Young car enthusiasts spend a total of $7.2 billion a year customizing their vehicles. One of the most popular car modifications available is auto window tinting.

Auto window tint provides a lot of benefits to car owners and can help in more ways than one. In addition to providing added privacy to your vehicle, window tinting can also help protect against UV rays, reduce heat in your vehicle, and help maintain your upholstery.

Fortunately, there are various types of window tint to choose from. In this beginner's guide, we'll tell you about the different types that you should know about.

Dyed Window Tint

The first type of auto window tint to know about is dyed window tint. This is the entry point for window tinting and is an affordable choice that does a pretty good job of serving several purposes.

This tint does a great job of blocking sunlight and absorbing heat from the sun. It helps ensure that your car stays at a comfortable temperature.

However, while it blocks the heat pretty well, it doesn't do as well at protecting passengers from the harmful effects of UV rays when compared to other tinting options. This window tinting also isn't quite as durable as some of the other options are.

The great thing about dyed window tint is that there is a range of colors and shades to choose from, so you can customize the appearance of your car significantly.

Be sure to consider this type of window tinting if you're looking for an affordable option.

Metalized Window Tint

Metalized window tint, such as Llumar window tint, is another type of tint that you can install on your car windows.

The metal particles in the window film are very reflective and help to reflect sunlight and reduce heat transfer. It can help to make your car much more comfortable and cool when the sun is out.

Metalized window tint does a great job of reducing the effect of the sun's glare on drivers and makes it easier to focus on the road. This window tint also adds a bit of extra strength to Windows and can reduce the chances of shattering as well.

However, keep in mind that there are a couple of drawbacks to getting metalized window tinting compared to other options. One of the main problems is that metalized window tinting can actually cause problems with cellphone and GPS signals and could lead to interference.

Hybrid Window Tint

If you're thinking about installing car window tinting then you should also know what hybrid tinting is.

Hybrid tinting film is a combination of both dyed window tint and metalized window tint and offers the best of both worlds. The window tint is reflective and does a great job of repelling UV rays and preventing passenger exposure. It's very effective at reducing the heat and glare inside a vehicle as well.

As an advantage over metalized window tint, it doesn't interfere with cell phone signals or GPS signals. On the other hand, keep in mind that this type of window tint is a bit more pricey than other types.

Carbon Window Tint

Carbon window tint film is a type of tint that you can apply to your vehicle's windows and is made from carbon material.

This type of film is especially dark and does a great job of blocking out the sun and preventing heat from entering your car. Many people love the appearance of carbon window tint and find that it is a very stylish option compared to some of the other window tint types that are available.

Carbon auto tint is a little higher quality and more expensive than the other options listed above but tends to be more durable and long-lasting. However, keep in mind that a drawback to this type of window tint is that it can be difficult to remove and the process can be time-consuming.

Crystalline Window Tint

Crystalline window tint is another option you should consider if you want to tint your vehicle's windows.

One of the perks of this type of film is that you'll be getting the UV-blocking benefits of a typical window tint but without making the windows too dark. The tint will do a great job of keeping your vehicle cool and blocking UV radiation but doesn't greatly change the way your windows look.

Like carbon tint, crystalline window tint can also be a bit more expensive than the basic options listed above but also offers a higher level of quality.

Ceramic Window Tint

Ceramic window tint is composed of ceramic particles and does a great job of absorbing heat and preventing glare.

Ceramic tile does a better job than typical auto window tint options. The tint is very durable and scratch-resistant and doesn't fade as time goes by.

This extra strength is favored by many automobile owners and makes this option a great one to consider if you want a high level of quality. Ceramic window tint is a very good option that offers an impressive level of quality.

However, keep in mind that ceramic window tint can be pretty pricey compared to some of the other auto window tint options that are available.

Choosing Between the Different Types of Auto Window Tint
